The
institute's work is dedicated to transforming contemporary
worldviews on the relationship between consciousness and matter.
The implications of our empirical research and community education
efforts extend far beyond the laboratory and the lecture hall.
Indeed, our work speaks to a shift involving humanity's deepest
knowing and understanding of ourselves and our universe.

Living
Deeply - The Art & Science of Transformation in Everyday
Life
This exciting book, written by Marilyn Mandala Schlitz,
PhD; Cassandra Vieten, PhD; and Tina Amorok, PsyD; draws
from the Institute of Noetic Sciences' thirty years of groundbreaking
research on human consciousness. The authors' premise is
simple,
yet radical: your behavior, attitudes, and ways of being
in the world are changed in life-affirming and lasting ways
only
when your consciousness transforms, and you commit to living
deeply into that transformation. There is also a companion
DVD that introduces powerful practices for Living Deeply,
and there are workshops with the authors, eLearning and more.

Today, our research and education department is focused on
three primary
areas of scientific inquiry: Extended Human Capacities,
Integral Health & Healing, and Emerging Worldviews. Supported
by our in-house researchers and our extended
faculty, our programs are contributing to the body of
knowledge about the richness of humanity's inner life and
its effects on the world around us.
You can now browse the institute's Distant
Healing Project, which overlaps with all three of the
research program areas. Video interviews, research results,
and much more are available in our Distant Healing site. We
have also published a series of monographs and books on science
and consciousness such as the Spontaneous
Remission Bibliography and
The Physical & Psychological Effects of Meditation.
The institute's psychophysiological
research lab was completed soon after the institute moved
to its campus in Petaluma, California. Today, we conduct research
projects in the lab, including a joint study in April 2004
with Dr
Richard Wiseman of the University of Hertfordshire.
You can participate in IONS' research now by trying out our online psi games. Created by IONS Senior Scientist Dean Radin, this project (entiltled "Garden of Dreams") lets you test your intuitive abilities in real time. Our DVDs and CDs on research topics are part of our educational outreach intitiative. You can hear and watch sample clips and then purchase these multimedia programs.
For
more than 30 years, the mission of the institute has been to explore the mystery of consciousness and its potentials for
transformation. We posit that human awareness and abilities can expand beyond the confines
of conditioned responses, cultural fixations,
and limited belief systems. We invite
you to join us in this adventure of exploration
and discovery.
